The International Lincolnshire Poacher

Britain's No. 1, 1000 Metre Long Track

Motorcycle long Track racing is probably the most exciting form of all off-road disciplines. The thrilling sideways action of the 500cc solos with no brakes. Raw power and sheer speed of the awesome 1000cc Sidecars, the fastest off-road sidecar outfit in motorcycle sport. Both reaching thrilling 100mph action, racing only inches apart with no compromise; all riders are always ready for a chat, photograph and autograph. A sport for all the family.

Over the years the Wainfleet Club has made a considerable name for itself in the World of track racing with its International Poacher, if you have not been before it will be a day's racing to remember.

We are always inviting top International riders from World-Wide, including World and European Champions; this year will be no exception, giving British fans the chance to see them compete against the best of our own riders. This year there will be top International 500cc Solos and top awesome 1000cc sidecars, plus top 500cc International Sidecars and including the UK Round of the Veteran Solo Longtrack Series.

The 2020 Poacher will be on the 30th August, Bank Holiday Sunday

Another fantastic offer includes camping all week from Mon 24th to Tues 1st September. A fantastic bargain when you stop to consider this could include a week’s camping or caravanning at the height of the holiday season, four miles from the famous seaside resort of Skegness for only £5.00 per Adult per week. Also includes Saturday night’s entertainment. Licenced Bar open on site from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th August with real ale still only £3.00 pint. Hot food available on site from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th August. Other fast food shops in Wainfleet only one and a half miles away.

RACING TIMES SUNDAY: - Practice starts at 10.30am and the main action starts at 1pm.

Wainfleet & District Sporting Motorcycle Club has announced the cancellation of the Lincolnshire Poacher Long track that had been planned to take place on Bank Holiday Sunday 29th August 2021. After last year's cancellation we hoped it would be possible to stage it this year; however, with the current unknowns like, will everyone have had both doses of the covid vaccination by then?, social distancing, no travelling out of the area and lots of other potential restrictions on running a top meeting e.g. like no camping and no bar.

Other things that we have considered is the need of employing extra staff to police the event and the threat of the possibility of a third-wave of outbreaks which could lead to another lockdown later in the year. Plus the availability of getting First Aid cover, a doctor, paramedics and ambulances; should we have any injured riders. This would put extra strain on hospitals at this critical time. Overseas International riders also may not be permitted to travel to the U.K.

Our main obligation and priority is to protect the health and safety of our visitors, spectators, riders, club members, and all those involved in preparing and delivering this event. We hope you understand this difficult decision we have had to make. We cannot be certain that holding the International Lincolnshire Poacher would be possible in anything like its usual format and we don't want to degrade this prestigious event. We are hugely saddened by this difficult decision and know this will be of great disappointment to many spectators and riders alike, but it is better to be safe than sorry. If only one life is lost through holding a grass track (YOU WOULD ASK YOURSELF, WAS IT WORTH IT AND WE THINK NOT!) we thank you for your understanding. We now look forward to welcoming everyone back next year on Bank Holiday Sunday 28th August 2022, when hopefully, things have returned to normality and we can celebrate being together once more, safe & without any fear of Covid-19.

The Wainfleet Club would like to take this opportunity to say a big Thank You to all the NHS and key-workers, plus staff at mass vaccination centres that have literally put their lives on the line to save ours.
